In 1986 Margaret was introduced to the writings of the Benedictine monk John Main.
Main’s work focuses on the indwelling Spirit of Jesus deep within us. He drew on the early church’s teaching regarding Prayer of the Heart. Following on in his footsteps Laurence Freeman OSB became the Director of the World Community for Christian Meditation. Over the past 20 years Margaret has been involved with the WCCM leading many retreats, prayer and music days, and vocal and choral workshops. She has given seminars, conferences and retreats in such places as Malaysia, Singapore, USA, New Zealand, Ireland and the UK. At the request of Laurence Freeman she was invited in 2002 to compose a work with words by John Main to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of his death. This first piece 'Awakening in Love' was followed by two further compositions, 'In the Silence' and 'Mysterium Amoris' forming a triptych. The WCCM, with members in over a hundred countries, continues the vision of a contemplative church and a united world which lies at the heart of John Main’s teaching. |
